THE BEATLES WENT TO INDIA IN 1968. AND THEY WERE NEVERTHE SAME AFTHER THIS...

The Beatles in Rishikesh, India with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, 1968
The Beatles in India in 1968: the music changed forever

The Beatles went to India in 1968 to a long "journey" with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. At least one thing became clear after this special visit: the music of the band was never the same.

Influencied by the Maharishi's "phylosophy", The Beatles launched at that year one of the best albums ever produced: the White Album that, apparentlly as a consequence of the Indian journey, was totally "open-minded": the album had a lot of musical styles all together, from "Helter Skelter" to "Rocky Racoon". And some of the best romantic songs ever made like "Julia" and "While my guitar gently weeps".

This mix resulted in a splendid album. The influence of the Indian culture in The Beatles music was seen before in the albums "Rubber Soul" and specially in "Sargent Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band". But the White Album was a real mix of styles as    it was never seen before.

It is hard to say what was really good in that trip to India. But the music says "thank you" to this journey. That happened in 1968, you bet...
