The Beatles are beyond any discussion about music. And they launched their "White Album", a masterpiece which had everything in terms of styles of music, in 1968. Of course.
Where else could the Beatles be so innovative,so differente, so schoking, so original, so perfect? Just in 1968!
It is impossible to say what song is better in this album. You go from "Helter Skelter" to "Julia", from "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" to "Rocky Racoon". How could you say that this is a rock album? But at the same time, it is a great rock album.
It is a masterpiece -- totally new, with a lot of different styles "living" together, with new and old styles of song appearing in an unusual way.
The "White Album" was fantastic. It is is still today revolutionary, amazing. Just like 1968!
