1968 - The most popular candidate was assassinated. And the one who was his opposite won...

The assassination of Martin Luther King seemed to be the biggest shock to the world in 1968. But just two months later things became even worse: Robert Kennedy, favourite to win the election for US President that year, was also killed. It happened in June 5 in Los Angeles. The killer? An unknown, just like what happened with Bob's brother, John Kennedy, five years before (John was in 1963 one of the most popular presidents of the American History).

If there was any doubt, then, it became even more clear that 1968 was everything but a “regular year”.

Bob Kennedy seemed then to be the most appropriate candidate for a nation that lived a wave of change. Vietnam war was the target of protests of million of people, the “Flower Power” was more and more present, the society was apparently looking for a new era...

But we were at 1968. Nothing at that year was predictable. So Bob Kennedy, the favourite, became just one more victim of violence, just 61 days after Luther King was assassinated.
As as we were in 1968, the elected was Richard Nixon, who could be considered the exact opposite of Bob Kennedy.
But what was the surprise? Were not we in 1968?
