A revolution in the Brazilian art. In 1968...

The record "Tropicália" launched in 1968

"Tropicália" was a movement that changed art in Brazil. In 1968, you bet.

It was a movement that started with the music. It was something completely different from what existed till 1968. Before "Tropicália", the Brazilian music was divided in "protest music", songs that were against the militar regime, and "jovem guarda", romantic music with themes related to teenagers love stories.

These two kind of music were fighting each other when "Tropicália"suddenly appeared. It was something new and at the same time traditional, a mix of rock-and-roll, samba, bossa nova, bolero etc.

This new kind of music received a lot of criticism but it was a success. With new "faces" for old songs and a mixture of rythms, with a no-traditional structure, it was a surprise and spread its influence for other types of art, like painting, cinema, theatre.

It was something knew, that became a landmark in the history of the Brazilian art.

In 1968, as you expected...
